June 2003. Fort Barrancas was one of several forts intended to defend Pensacola Bay. Originally built in the mid 19th century and restored for tourists in the late 1970s, it was a pretty interesting place to wander around in, if slightly reminiscent of a gigantic brick oven given the temperature the day we decided to explore it.
